Clearwire Speed Test… huge difference

So I was trying to watch netflix on my TV and it kept stopping the show that I was watching.  I tried to switch shows to see if it wasn’t just a matter of trying to play HD content, but there was no difference.

So I decided to run a little speed test to see what it looked like.

Wow, pretty sad when you are sold on their 6-7 Mb/s network.  So I tried doing a router reset…. (like the good old days) and this was the result.

Massive difference… Currently I am running a 2wire wireless router for my internet connection but I used it prior to Clearwire and it maintains a solid signal, much like the Apple Airport Extreme at my parents house.  So then it seems to be Clearwire Motorola modem that is causing the occasional slowdowns.

After about two or three months of being signed up, my connection would start to dwindle down to nearly unusable speeds.  When I called in to customer support, the gentleman was nice enough to inform me of the process.  He said that if I disconnect everything for at least 2 minutes, it will actually renew the lease on the network tower and run like a new connection.

Luckily there connection has been much more stable in the outskirts of Chicago, in NW Indiana.  I haven’t had to reset the connection in a while… And it is pretty nice when technology gets to the point where you can just set it and forget it!
